Brie Larson opened up about one of her The Marvels co-stars during a recent convention appearance, revealing which actor she believes is most like their on-screen character. Brie Larson discusses her experience of working with Marvel costar Iman Vellani

At SpaceCon 2025 in San Antonio, Captain Marvel star Brie Larson praised her The Marvels co-star Iman Vellani, describing her as “basically playing herself” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Larson told fans that Vellani “knows everything” about the MCU, adding that “she really is that character in that way.” The Oscar-winning actress called Vellani “a wonderful person” and said she has “so many incredible memories with her.”

Larson and Vellani first appeared together in The Marvels (2023) with Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn. Their characters joined forces to close a multiversal rift that threatened the Kree people. Earlier, Larson made a brief cameo in the Ms. Marvel finale on Disney+, which introduced Vellani’s Kamala Khan to the MCU.

In an earlier 2023 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Larson called Vellani “the future” and “the perfect Ms. Marvel,” adding, “She’s one of my favorite people on this earth.” Larson explained that part of her motivation for playing Captain Marvel was the dynamic between Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan, saying, “A huge part of why I wanted to play Captain Marvel was because of Ms. Marvel and what that meant.”

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also told EW that Vellani “essentially steals The Marvels.” Larson noted that she often learns from her younger co-star, saying, “She teaches me so much every single day.”

Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed any upcoming appearances. Still, Larson and Vellani are expected to reprise their roles in future MCU projects.
