Splitting the bill is always a trial by fire. Nobody agrees on the right way to do things, but for folks who are mindful and frugal when they’re looking at the menu, there’s no way they’d be splitting the bill evenly when all they ordered is the Caesar salad and everyone else picked the lobster or steak dinner. Once the moochers of the world realize they can get away with guilt-tripping others to get a free meal, suddenly everyone’s acting pretty lush while looking at the dinner menu.
But this employee stood their ground on their boundaries, even if it meant driving a wedge between themselves and their childish coworkers.
