Focus and productivity go hand in hand; that’s why it’s so difficult to get anything done when you’re distracted. However, this young professional’s family didn’t seem to understand that their grocery money entirely hinged on a 25-year-old’s work-from-home focus. Instead of facilitating a healthy working environment for her and graciously getting out of the way when she worked, they repeatedly intruded on her office space, wasting her time with gossip and idle chit-chat.
Welp, not anymore, because she got a bolt lock and a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign to get her point across.
When my work focus is broken, it’s hard to get it back, so my 8-hour brown noise playlists, cozy chair, and reachable tea mug are a must when I’m trying to be productive. If my focus was being disturbed on a regular basis in my house, I would absolutely shut out whatever, or whomever, is causing the disruption. Perhaps it’s impolite, but so is being a disruptive roommate who doesn’t pay any bills.
